Nootka Sound Day Cruise

MV Uchuck lll out of Gold River $95

The MV Uchuck III departs Tuesdays from Gold River to provide freight and passenger service throughout the many inlets and waterways of historic Nootka Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

This one-day marine cruise allows you to experience the day-to-day activities of a working marine vessel first hand as it makes deliveries to logging camps, fishing lodges and other remote marine outposts.

Along the route passengers can expect to see a variety of marine life from bald eagles to sea lions, sea otters and on occasion, whales. Stops are made if the vessel comes across a raft of sea otters or whales along the route.

The MV Uchuck III’s friendly and knowledgeable crew, comfortable wood-finished lounge, galley and upper-deck seating make this marine cruise a great way to spend a relaxing day on Vancouver Island’s West Coast.

The boat’s galley cook prepares hardy West Coast fare daily, including homemade soups, sandwiches and chili, muffins hot from the oven and an assortment of other baked goodies along with freshly brewed coffee, all at reasonable prices. And you are more than welcome to pack your own snacks and/or meals.

We will be staying at the Wyndham Baymont in Gold River on Monday night August 26th. Since the boat does not return until after 6 pm those interested can stay another night and have dinner at the highly-rated Sea & Field Bistro.

Since the hotel is not opening until early summer we don’t yet have prices for the rooms, so stay tuned.
