She gave an enlightening talk about her work among Ebola patients and supervising health workers in Sierra Leone in 2015 at the Ebola Treatment Centre in Kerry Town.

The difficult and trying circumstances of this outbreak showed how compassion, complacency and corruption can affect the outcome of a potential pandemic.  A short history of the Ebola virus, an explanation of the treatment centre and the volunteers working there gave us a brief insight to the fantastic work done by such organizations as MSF, Save the Children, Oxfam etc.

Ingrid’s presentation was much appreciated .

Final Announcements:          Jean Russell spoke about the Elf Trees and explained their meaning and how they help the community – there is one in the church, one in the Post office, one at Nanoose Place and one at the Fairwinds centre.  Several of our Probus members are volunteers for the NCS and were recognized.
